Welcome to Orangeville, 1991, 32 x 44 cm, 52 x 65 cm framed, Original Ink on paper
Like many small Ontario towns, Orangeville celebrates the heritage of a center town core with a jeweled offering of lovely old original and varied architectural styled homes with a focus on their welcoming front entryway. Here they radiate their beauty even more as presented all together.
Country Gifts, 1992, 18 x 18 cm, 43 x 43 framed, Original Ink on paper
A capture of intricacy in the whimsical offering from what was Mansfield’s Olde Stanton Store. Truly, a gift in itself!
Irises, circa 1990, 42 x 50 cm, 64 x 71 framed, woven tapestry mixed media
If you sense a taste of Claude Monet in this painterly tapestry, you are absolutely right!
An opportunity to explore the magic he saw in quite another medium.

Mini Quilt Triptic, 2026, 42 x 25 cm, machine sewn quilting, silk, satin and suede, hand stitched beading and detail embroidery
I call these my “mini quilts”, my indulgence when I need to delve once again into fibre. I had to run as far away as I could from the micrometer perfection of traditional quilt-making to achieve this result. I do start with minuscule patterns taken from the layout. After that I let the stitching and the beads tell me where they want to be!

The Road Series
I love to drive. I can say that because I don’t live in the city! A few years back, with the gift of a new car, the otherwise repetitive and often un-noticed commute to work took on a whole new meaning. My creative spirit cut loose and was always finding compositions to capture.
The road. For drivers… it unites us all.
Drivers Wanted I, circa 2010, 120 x 140 cm, oil on canvas
Why this? Why not! It’s the north edge of the Hockley Valley. I call it the top of the 15th. Part of a daily commute when every day would present a different view. My favourite was always the misty mornings that brought out the dramatic contrast of the grand trees below.

Drivers Wanted II, Morning Commute, 2014, 145 x 107, oil on canvas
Country highway. Top down. Stopped at a red light. No one else around. A nervous silence rises from the pavement.
Morning sunlight beckoning as if to say “come, fly !”. And I knew the moment the light changed my foot would come off the brake, the city horizon would reappear and the day would begin.

Driver Found, Rear View Mirror, 2026, 145 x 107 cm, oil on canvas
It’s a distinct hill on a specific piece of highway. It has just the right roll to it. In the driver’s rear view mirror it feels like the road is moving and you are stationary. Can’t stare for long. Eyes on the road ahead again and, now, you are moving. Road is not.
What really locked this in my memory was the misty grey day. The road and the sky became one and the defining lines were left suspended.
I had to get it on canvas.
“Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward.”
Soren Kierkegaard
